The Library - Virtual Tour

The library of SGCF has grown with the years thanks to donations from members and to purchases made for a half-century.  It has many sections that we invite you to visit.  Click on each picture for an enlarged view.

Work room - More than 100 users can use one of the 8 tables of the library.  4 of them have an electrical outlet for portable computers. 12 computers - To ease the access of the most recent databases, SGCF has a good set of computers.  Some computers are connected to the Internet.  See below a sample of our databases and other softwares.
Parchemin - The 2003 release allows you to find fastly a notary record between 1600 and 1779 (marriage contracts, wills, sales, etc.).  This database covers Québec, a part of Acadia and some records in the West. More databases from Archiv-Histo - SGCF has most if not all CD-ROMs from Archiv-Histo, like the justice records of the French regime and the beginning of the English regime. PRDH - This database has the summary of Early Quebec catholic records (BMB from 1621 to 1799, old censuses, confirmations and hospital lists, ship passengers, etc.)
BMS2000 - This cooperative database is the result of the work of many Quebec genealogical societies.  Millions of records you can search on the computer.  Records from SGCF are also in the Fichier Benoît (search with the Parchemin or Folio Bound method). ISQ - This set of 2 databases has 5 millions of entries in all, so that you can locate a marriage or death in Quebec between 1926 and 1996.  Data depends on the year.  For instances, the town of the marriage is displayed from 1945. Digital Vital Records from Drouin - The largest private genealogical project in Quebec: put on the computer all Quebec vital records from Drouin microfilms.
